Jajpur, May 16, 2014 : A  worker  was  killed  and three feared trapped  on Thursday  in a cave-in incident in an illegal black stone quarry at Dankari   hillock  under Jenapur  police station  of  Jajpur district. A portion of the hillock caved in   while they were doing illegal  black stone-  quarry works  in a stone- crusher   machine.   We retrieved the mangled body of a worker .  Police seized the body   and sent it  to the local government hospital  at Dharamsala for autopsy . We are trying to rescue other trapped workers , said the IIC of Jenapur police station, Suvendu Kumar Sahoo. Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo, the independent candidate   from Dharamshala assembly seat, along with  others rushed to the spot after the incident. Sahoo   alleged that  some BJD leaders   have  been illegally quarrying in the hill since long.  " It is unfortunate that the authorities have not cared to  take action against the quarry mafias   though each day many poor workers dig stones  by risking their lives. Stone quarries have now become virtual death traps for labourers with many casualties being reported on a regular basis,  added  Sahoo.
